High quality sensor

The SL2-S features a new BSI-CMOS sensor with a resolution of 24 million pixels. The data collected by the sensor is processed by the Maestro-III processor associated with the generous 4 gigabyte buffer memory . It offers for the first time virtually unlimited burst recording at speeds of up to 9 frames/second, with burst length in JPEG format limited only by the storage capacity of the installed memory cards.

Image Stabilization

The Leica SL2-S features a sensor mounted on a highly effective 5-axis stabilization system , paired with any Leica lens. This sensor shift technology makes it easy to capture multiple images, where 8 shots are calculated into a single image with four times higher definition, reaching 96 million pixels. High sensitivity, up to ISO 100,000 , combined with fast autofocus and image stabilization, allows photographers to capture excellent images in almost any type of light.

Optimal integration

The Leica SL2-S is the first SL model to enable direct photography with Capture One 21. This allows users to fully control the camera remotely via the computer. In addition, the SL2-S can also be connected to Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic. A limited-time subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud Photography is included in the purchase price of the camera. Except for the sensor, the Leica SL2-S has the same features as the SL2 (such as the unique operating concept and the high-resolution Leica EyeRes® viewfinder), and shares the entire range of accessories of the SL2. Of course, this all-metal camera also boasts a dust and water rating of IP54, and is produced in Germany to the highest quality standards.

Perfect for creative videographers

The Leica SL2-S offers photographers, but also videographers and cinematographers, exceptional possibilities - continuously optimized thanks to firmware updates of the SL-System devices. The Leica SL2-S captures 10-bit 4:2:2 video with the Leica L-LOG system, at frame rates up to 60 fps. With built-in viewing LUTs, the user can have full control throughout the recording. Another professional feature, unlimited video recording time, which means that the length of the video is only limited by the corresponding memory (internal or external). With the new V2.0 firmware update, the Leica SL2-S supports the efficient HEVC video compression standard for 10-bit recordings up to 4K/60p. This will allow videos to be divided into one-minute segments, to minimize the risk of data loss. Further enhancements, such as integrated waveform monitoring and automatic focus tracking, offer even more possibilities for professional use.

Unlimited compatibility

Thanks to the L mount, the Leica SL2-S is fully compatible not only with the extensive lens range of the Leica SL system, but also with Leica TL lenses; and, via an adapter, with lenses from the Leica M, R and S systems. The L-Mount alliance gives SL2-S owners access to more than 40 autofocus lenses. In addition, Leitz Cine lenses - very popular with filmmakers - can also be adapted to the Leica SL2-S.
